Navigation Rules

The State of Florida adopts and enforces all Federally mandated boating safety laws.

Every vessel operating in the State of Florida shall carry and use safety equipment in accordance with U. S. Coast Guard requirements as specified in the Code of Federal Regulations. Additionally, every vessel shall display the lights and shapes required by the navigation rules. See the Basic Boating Course for these requirements.

For a complete listing of the navigation rules, refer to the document "Navigation Rules" published by the U.S. Coast Guard and available through the U.S. Government printing office or on the web: http://www.navcen.uscg.gov/mwv/mwv_files/NR_Files/navrules.pdf.

For State Specific navigation requirements, refer to the state laws where you intend to boat.
